History - Are you excited or want it to go away?
History (according to Merriam Webster) is defined as a chronological record of significant events (as affecting a nation or institution) often including an explanation of their causes. Tomorrow, January 20, 2009 we will have a new president, 44th to be exact. AND what is the significance of this event? Barack Obama will be the first Afro American president elected in the HISTORY of the United States of America.
I want to hear from you! Do you think Mr. Obama was elected BECAUSE of the color of his skin or IN SPITE of the color of his skin with his dreams?
According to Toby Harndan in Washington, President-Elect invokes the spirit of Martin Luther King "Speaking on the eve of the historic ceremony, he hailed the civil rights leader as "not just a dreamer, but a doer" who worked tirelessly for change."
Are we as a nation in entirety going to JUST dream of what could have been, or are we going to BE doers and support his dreams and give him a chance? I am thinking that our best foot forward would be to pray for our NEW PRESIDENT and support him without tearing him down or bellyaching and grumbling?

Whether I was in support of Obama prior to the election or not, I remain proud to be an American citizen and will support him as he takes leadership of our country. There is no good that comes from whining, bellyaching, and tearing anyone down. I hope to be a part of solving problems, not part of the problems. I will pray daily that HE has a hand in Obama's leadership of our country and daily I hope I am reminded that I have a responsibility to be supportive and proactive if I want to see dreams come true.
